Best used iron sets under $500

Full used iron sets under $500 delivered are scarcer than drivers: a good set holds its value, so this price usually means a set a few years old, or a shorter set (6-iron to PW). Start with one pick per category, made by a published rule, or browse every set in stock, newest first, and what's just above.

How we pick

Every used club in stock at our stores under the price, right-handed, delivered price including shipping where the store publishes it. One row per model, ordered by a fixed rule: newest model first (a later generation is the clearest upgrade at the same price), then the best condition available under the cap, then the lowest price. Commission never affects the order. Click a model to see every listing, its grade and its store. Sets are grouped by category, from each brand's description: game improvement, players distance and players. Who each usually suits is a guide, not a rule. Start here picks, in each group, the newest set with a club in Very Good condition or better (normal use or less on our scale), at the best grade available, then the lowest price: the same rule as the list. Iron sets have no single launch price (it depends on the set makeup), so there is no saving to rank by. No pick is a review: we compare specs, prices and grades, not how clubs play. Prices checked Oct 26.

What usually lands here

In early October 2026, the full iron sets most listed under $500 at our stores were TaylorMade's Qi (2024) and P7MC (2023), followed by a few each of Ping's G (2016) and G400 (2017), Callaway's Mavrik (2020), Rogue ST Max (2022) and Paradym Ai Smoke (2024), and Cleveland's Launcher XL (2022). Sets this cheap are often shorter (6-iron to PW) or older, so check the makeup; a newer set just above $500 can be the better buy.

What $500 buys

Check the set's makeup before the price: a 4-PW set has seven irons, a 6-PW set five, so a cheaper set may simply be shorter. If a set is missing a club you want, Complete my set finds a single iron that matches, including from other generations with identical specs.

What to check at this price

Generation: many iron sets keep the same name across years with different lofts; each model page lists every club's loft, lie and length. Shaft and flex: steel or graphite, and which flex. Lie and length: a previous owner may have had them bent or cut (see lie angle and length). Grooves: look at the face photos, especially the short irons.

Every set we cover is on the irons page.
