Complete golf sets

For most adults starting out, a 10- to 12-piece set at around $500 to $650 covers everything: a driver, a wood or hybrid, irons, a wedge, a putter and a bag. Spend more for more forgiving heads and extra hybrids, and pick a senior or lightweight set if you swing slowly. Here's how to choose, with the sets our stores have today.

How to choose a complete set

How many clubs?

Ten to twelve pieces is plenty; the rules allow up to 14, and there's no minimum. Look for sets that swap the 4- and 5-irons for hybrids, which are much easier to get in the air. More in your first set of golf clubs.

Which flex?

Regular flex suits most adults. If you swing slowly, a senior or lightweight set launches higher and goes farther; flex follows swing speed, not age or gender (shaft flex explained).

Which length?

Standard length fits most golfers. If you're well above or below average height, look for a set sold longer or shorter (Tour Edge offers some sets an inch either way) and check your wrist-to-floor measurement first (lie angle and length).

Which bag?

A stand bag has legs and a double strap for walking; a cart bag sits on a golf cart or trolley. Most sets include one.

Left-handed?

Fewer sets come left-handed, so they have their own section below.

A first set, up to $650

The usual starting point: everything you need, made to be easy to hit.

A step up, $650 to $1,000

Usually more forgiving heads, better shafts and more hybrids, for beginners who expect to play often.

Premium sets, over $1,000

Lighter, more refined clubs, mostly for women and slower swings. If you're spending this much, compare a used set of a brand's main line too (below).

Slower swings and seniors

Senior flex and lightweight sets help a slower swing launch the ball higher.

Women's sets

Lighter and shorter than men's sets, usually with ladies flex. A few come shorter still for petite golfers.

Junior sets

Junior sets are sized by height or age, so check the store's size chart before you buy: a set that's too long is harder to swing.

Or start with used clubs

A used set of a brand's main-line clubs often costs about the same as a premium boxed set and performs better: at GlobalGolf on Oct 6, 2026, a used TaylorMade Stealth iron set was typically about $600, a used Callaway Paradym driver about $310 and a used Stealth hybrid about $99. See your first set of golf clubs for both routes, or start with irons and let Fill my bag work out the gaps.
